week 8

error correction & detection, explains y they occur, simple things like equipment failure, dispersion, attenuation, as well as ways to deal with these types of problems. . . also is Shannon's equation and were to use this, further explains error detection like noise, parity checking, hamming distance and block parity checking, CRC (cyclic redundancy code) and check sum . . . then gives use more info on the efficiency of the CRCs. next part of the lecture is an detail part on autonomic computing as well as the need for open networks, continues into knowledge networks and autonomous querying for the networks. next part of the lecture was on data compression, mainly this was only the types of compression there is and types of encoding . . . alot of details on the Huffman coding including branches and unbalanced tree designs. also included was info on MPEG / -1/ -2, explaining the developments that they have made over the last few years. the final part of the lecture was on GPS, now developments would have to be made in this department, can you imagine being able to track anyone from any part of the world . . .
