woohoo !! not long left to go, next week last lecture for 2ND year (ciara due now on the 29Th), today networking lecture was on wireless LANs, sometimes used in offices, started with info on electromagnetic radiations that ripples at 3x10 (power of 8)m/s, also included picture of the electromagnetic spectrum (haven't seen DAT since 3Th year), gives us info on were they might be used as well as the advantages of using these WLANs. now there is a number of types including blue tooth, irda and wifi the more popular ones. Explains how each would work including the configuration of these and infrastructure. . . next was the grid (started by Larry smarr also referred to as the Internet 2), shows what the grid offers like capacity, collaboration, mass storage, as well as a better load balance. develops on into the information, security and communication aspects of the grid and the applications . . finally in the lecture there was cable modems, info on the up / downstream is very important on this, then give details on the structure and the codependents of the cable modems.
